a new calf
Our first calf born on the farm. we heard its mamma Belle, Mooing this morning and went to see what was going on. A little calf was here! It appears to be a little boy. We moved him into the barn, where the flies could give him a break. He has stood up a few times and we saw him nurse ( or maybe try to nurse, not really sure) but he seems to be doing well, and we felt it was best to just to let him and mamma be.
We were a little worried, that their would be no calfs this year. Belle was due a week ago, and shasta a few days before. Shasta just started bagging up a few days ago, and belle didn’t look like anything was happening. So we now know, Belle does not look pregnant, ever, and that both of our dexters have a longer than normal gestation period. Oh well, we have a calf! Yeah!!!

Awww, it is precious!
