And now he’s 4!

They can't help themselves

We had another birthday here this weekend, Rockstar turned 4!!!  This past year has been such a ride with him, he really opened up.  Through speech therapy he began to communicate, and actually become understandable, now that we can understand what he says it is amazing the stuff he comes up with.  He really is a cutie pie.  His (current) goal in life is to be a Rockstar Soldier Aba (that plays the tuba – he has a fascination with the Tuba – he says he likes them because they are big.  When we went to watch the battle of the band parade earlier this year he would yell out TUBA! every time one went by…) , and we all agree he will be the best one the world has ever seen.

Here it comes

He loves to play with these little figurines and when we were at Tractor supply about a month ago they had just gotten their new toys in for the year and he fell in love with one particular set with horses, and cowboys, a covered wagon, and a stagecoach, he sat their looking at it for a good 15 minutes while Aba checked out insulated gloves and picks, and then requested it for his birthday.

A great big slice of carrots!

He only made 2 other requests for his birthday: carrot cake – a big one, and snow.  I tried to ask him what he wanted for dinner on his birthday and he requested carrot cake again, I asked what snack he wanted to bring to school on his birthday snack day and again he requested carrot cake  (apparently he had his heart set on carrot cake).  So he was pretty happy with his day I think.  Homemade waffles ( his favorite) for breakfast, Navi made him a birthday hat that he wore all day, we went to the movies in town, where he was given a free popcorn because it was his birthday ( he was still wearing his hat), and a big carrot cake after dinner, and then the present he requested. and yes he did get to bring little carrot cakes to school on his birthday snack day.

He loves his new toy

Do you want the carrot cake recipe that he loves so much?  Well, Here ya go. Oh, and he also got his snow (it started yesterday morning, snowed on and off all day, and disappeared today before noon.)

Oh, and please ignore the laundry pile in the background.

  1. What a cutie! Happy birthday, Rockstar.
What a blessing your children have to be raised on a farm. I grew up in the country and treasure those memories. Dad built our house, we grew most of our own food, mom made all our bread, and I had lots of room to run and climb trees. My grandparents homesteaded in the Dakotas back when land was free if you just lived on it for seven years. Now I live in a suburb and long for what you have. Maybe someday…

  2. Happy birthday to your little man!

    What laundry pile???
