A day at the Fair

So yesterday, we spent the day at the County fair.  It was super duper H-O-T!  Navi entered into the Mutton Bustin contest (one of his favorite pastimes, that is when he can find a sheep)

and bailey insisted on competing as well, although Nathan and I both tried to talk her out of it, she said she was big enough, well, the outcome of this was that Navi tied for 2nd place ( 3.6 second ride, 1st was a 4.1 second ride)

and asked if he could go again (the answer was yes, but unfortunately the sheep stepped on his arm and pulled him off, so he didnt place he is okay and that is just how it goes sometimes)  You can see the video of his placing ride under my videos

.

And Bailey started to cry when she fell off, although she was fine, she just didnt find it very enjoyable

( thats okay cowgirls arent supposed to be riding Bulls and Broncs anyways, Cowgirls are princesses and bucket riders)

so as we are walking away we ask her if she wants to go again and we get a very adamant NO!  The kids went to the fishing pond, which they said was no where near as fun as pond/lake fishing, and definitely not as fun as fly-fishing!  Then off to get some snacks, Nathan, being the adventurous eater he is decided on mesquite grilled alligator, and really seemed to enjoy it ( although he did dowse it in Hot sauce as he does to most of his food), then he proceeded  to convince bailey to try it by telling her it was chicken, this worked until the food was in her mouth, at which time she promptly spit it out,  Navi blatantly said that is NOT chicken! but tried it anyways and liked it as did JoJo.  Both who proceeded to eat several bites, before the corn dogs arrived.   Afterwards we had silhouettes cut out of the kids, by an ex-Disney animator, they look very cool and do resemble them,  then time for 1 ride ( we never do more than one ride at any fair when Nathan is their, it is some kind of unspoken rule, but maybe as the kids get older that will change)  So the kids all chose the Super Slide (actually, they choose it while we were walking up to the fair gates, we have little counties here, hence little county fairs, but lots of them!) Navi descended first with big smiles and a spring in his step,

Bailey came down 2nd and exclaimed I didnt cry!  I like it, can we do it again?

and finally came JoJo with Aba, as he obviously can not go on his own yet (Bailey barely made the height requirement), the two of them both had on the biggest Kool-Aid grins,

every one loves a good slide!   Then we were off to Navis 2nd Mutton Bustin event of the day and home.  So pretty much a great day all around despite the heat, and despite me stepping on a cactus on the way (it poked me through my shoe!) to the car.  But the kids picked me sunflowers to make me feel better.  Navi was a bit disappointed he didnt win a buckle (1st place), but theirs always next time!
