Girls already !?!?
It is happening already! And he’s not even 5 yet! I didn’t think I would have to worry about this till Jr. High or High School! Girls are calling my little man on the phone! Now, last year he had 2 “girlfriends”, but they were just that, friends that were girls. But not anymore. Here is what has progressed over the past couple of days
Monday when he got home from school we had this conversation:
Me: How was school today?
Navi: Good. I gave Jaida my phone number.
Me: Oh Okay. (as I think who is Jaida? It must be the new girl)
Navi: Mommy, what is our phone number?
Me: It’s 303-555-1212 (like I’m really going to put my phone number here!)
Navi: Oh no! (as he slaps himself on the head) That’s not what I told her!
He then sits quitely for a moment then perks up, he has an idea!
Navi: I know what Mommy! You can write it down for me and then I can give it to her! Here you can write it on my homework so I don’t forget it! (then he proceeds to rip a HUGE chuck off of his worksheet – like a 1/4 of the page! – and hand it to me with a pen).
Of course I obliged him and wrote it down and handed it back, to which he set it on the counter and ran off to play. Well, fastforward to Wednesday (his next day of school), I figured he would have completely forgotten about it, but as he was gettin gready he said “Mommy, where is my phone number?” I folded it up and handed to him, and he promptly unfolded it, read it, refolded it, and put it into his pocket. Dinner time rolled around and I had a sullen little man. As we sat down to meal of Hamburgers, French fries, Onion rings, Salad and Cupcakes (all lovingly made by me), He uttered this statement “Why didn’t she call me? She was supposed to call me” and continued to sulk quietly. I felt so bad for him but didn’t know what to do so I just said “Don’t worry, I am sure she will call, maybe she is busy tonite.” Well jump to last night as we were sitting down for a mexican feast (yo prepardo) when the phone rings. My Hubby picks it up and looks confused as he tries to figure out who is calling, and then who the phone is for (most of the calls to our house are for him) and preceeds to hand the phone to our little man. it was Jaida! She had FINNALLY called! And do you know what the first thing out of his mouth was “Why didn’t you call me last night? you were supposed to call me!”
Oh my goodness! We always thought our little Princess was going to be the heartbreaker, but it looks like we might have 2 (or maybe even 3!). But I’m sure all of you that know my Hubby would say I should have known. He is definatly like his Aba (daddy)!
